Creating a successful startup and product
Startup in Residence Intergov is a Dutch innovation program in which startups collaborate with governments on innovative solutions for societal challenges. Governments challenge startups to pitch solutions for their societal and technological challenges. The startups with the best solutions are selected for the Startup in Residence Intergov program in which they, together with the challenge owners, prepare the solution for implementation in 5 months.

Come up with new circular applications for public material flows!
Wool is a residual product in the Netherlands, there is no Dutch wol industry, and so it often ends up in landfills or in incinerators. The Hollands Wol Collectief connects producers and makers to safe 2 million kilos of wool from the incinerator per year. During SiR, Hollands Wol Collectief developed the basis of their company, their value proposition together with Vitas. They also sold the first kilos of processed wool in this period. In a second program Vitas supported them in developing and testing isolation solutions using Dutch wool. Get involved via https://www.hollandswolcollectief.nl/.
Wild card challenge: Develop a solution with clear social added value
ReefSystems provides innovative solutions to stimulate biodiversity under and above water. Their mission is to create a new path in nature inclusive construction to actively support ecosystem restoration in the built environment. During SiR with Vitas a mentor, the concept SPECTER was developed to add biodiversity to canals that are made using sheet piles. These canals are used for transport and have little to no nature in them due to the steel sheet piles on all sides. At that time Rijkswaterstaat and other owners of canals did not have any options to bring back some nature in their canals. With SPECTER they could now also start restoring some live in these canals. Develop solutions to increase critical digital skills and digital awareness among citizens.
The online world is a jungle. The challenge is not to get lost. Discover what is possible and deal with risks and dangers. During the SiR program MediaJungle developed an on- and offline game, King of the Jungle, with which you can go on a playful discovery of everything digital. It is aimed at both parents and kids and gets the conversation started. Mediajungle has won several awards for its work, including the Dutch Privacy Awards 2023 and an International MEDEA award.
